Lucas – in Woburn, September 25th, Stephen, beloved husband of Christine M. (Thornton) Lucas. Devoted father of Kathy Morrell and her husband Michael of Woburn, Patricia Padden and her husband Edward of Franklin, Christine O’Brien and her husband Jim of Lynnfield, and Stephen Lucas and his wife Essey of Billerica. Brother of Philip Lucas of Medford and the late Rose Phillips, Victoria Bradanese, and Raymond Lucas. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, September 29th, at 9:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Stephen Lucas, a longtime resident of Woburn passed away quietly at his home on Thursday, September 25th . The beloved husband of Christine M. (Thornton) Lucas, he was eighty- five years of age. Born in Boston, Stephen was the son of the late Michael and Frances (Somiak) Lucas. Raised in the North End of Boston, Stephen’ s family later moved to Wilmington where he graduated from Wilmington High School. As a young man he worked at the Charlestown Navy Yard during WWII as an assistant to the base Commander. In 1944, he and his wife Christine moved to Central Square in Woburn where they made their home and raised their four children. After the war, Stephen took a position with the MBTA as a mechanic until 1953 when he became proprietor of a service station in Andover. In 1968, he was employed by Raytheon as a quality control inspector of military missiles. He remained at Raytheon until his retirement in 1981. Stephen most enjoyed spending time with his family especially their many vacations to Ossippee, Sunapee, and the White Mountains in NH. He also enjoyed gardening and fishing. After his retirement her wintered in St. Petersburg, FL with his beloved wife of sixty years, Christine. Stephen was also a lifetime member of the Elks in Wakefield.

Stephen was also a lifetime member of the Elks in Wakefield.

Stephen was predeceased by his brother Raymond Lucas and his sisters, Rose Phillips and Victoria Bradanese.

He is survived by his wife Christine M. (Thornton) Lucas, his children, Kathy Morrell and her husband Michael of Woburn, Patricia Padden and her husband Edward of Franklin, Christine O’Brien and her husband Jim of Lynnfield, and Stephen Lucas and his wife Essey of Billerica, his brother Philip Lucas of Medford, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
