DOROTHY E. (NOWELL) BARNARD – of Winchester, July 12th, beloved wife of the late Alfred W. Barnard. Devoted mother of Joan Dresser of Derry, NH, Janet MacDonald of Winchester, Joyce McDonald and Jayne Giangrande, both of Woburn, Jill Posner of Ocala, FL, and the late Judith Fucarile. Also survived by 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, July 15th, at 8:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. Calling hours Monday 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. Donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.

OBITUARY:

Dorothy E. Barnard, a lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away in Reading Saturday morning following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Alfred W. Barnard, who died twenty years ago.

Born in Winchester eighty-seven years ago, she was the daughter of the late William and Julia (Peters) Nowell. She graduated from Winchester High School in 1933.

She was a member of the Emblem Club in earlier years, and loved traveling and enjoyed many trips over the years to Las Vegas and to Florida.

Her family was her priority in life, and she particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Alfred, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Fucarile, who died in 1988.

Surviving are five daughters, Joan Dresser of Derry, New Hampshire, Janet MacDonald of Winchester, Joyce McDonald and Jayne Giangrande, both of Woburn, and Jill Posner of Ocala, Florida.

She was also the beloved grandmother of twenty-two grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, July 15th, at 8:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
