ELAINE M. (PEARY) ALLEN – age 50, in Woburn, February 24th, beloved wife of Robert M. Allen. Devoted mother of Melissa M., Robin A., and Danielle M., all of Woburn. Loving daughter of Frederick Peary of Woburn and the late Eleanor (Johnson) Peary. Dear sister of Patricia Powers of Worcester, Eleanor Dodge, Frederick Peary Jr., Steven Peary, Dennis Peary, and Joanne Peary, all of Woburn, Christine Jewer of Burlington, and Terry Glendenning of Texas. Also survived by her mother-in-law, Ruth (Marshall) Allen of Woburn and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, February 28th, at 9:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Calling hours Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Lanie’s memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115.

OBITUARY:

Funeral services will be held Friday morning for Elaine “Lanie??? Allen, a well-known resident of Woburn who died at her home Monday after a four-year battle with breast cancer. The wife of Robert M. Allen, she was fifty years of age.

Born in Winchester, she was the daughter of Fred Peary of Woburn and the late Eleanor (Johnson) Peary. She attended Woburn schools and was a graduate of Woburn High School with the Class of 1971.

In her earlier years she worked at Alpha Industries and later for Raytheon. She then took time off to raise her three children. Recently she had worked in food services for the Woburn School Department.

Lanie, as she was affectionately known to friends and family, enjoyed summering at her family’s camp in Gilmanton, New Hampshire. She also bowled, enjoyed golfing, and she was a permanent fixture at the Woburn soccer fields, cheering her girls on.

She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Post 101, and a member of the Loyal Order of Women’s Moose.

In addition to her husband Bob and her father, Fred Peary of Woburn, she leaves her beloved daughters, Melissa, Robin, and Danielle, all of Woburn, her siblings, Patricia Powers of Worcester, Eleanor Dodge, Frederick Peary Jr., Steven Peary, Dennis Peary, and Joanne Peary, all of Woburn, Christine Jewer of Burlington, and Terry Glendenning of Texas.

She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Ruth (Marshall) Allen of Woburn and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, February 28th, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Lanie’s memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street, Boston, MA 02115.
