OBITUARY:

Roger Butler, a longtime resident of Woburn’s West Side, passed away at Winchester Hospital Saturday evening, February 8th, at the age of 97. He was the husband of Ella M. (Harris) Butler, who died in 1970.

Born in Newfoundland, Canada, he was the son of the late Samson and Margaret (Fisher) Butler. He was a quiet man whose main enjoyment in life was his family. He spent a great deal of his time with his grandchildren and loved entertaining them at his home. An avid fisherman until he was ninety-four years of age, he particularly enjoyed salt water fishing. Another hobby was carpentry, and in his younger years he built boats with his uncle.

In addition to his wife Ella, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Butler, and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving are a daughter, Grace A. Swanson and her husband Lennart of Ashby, and a son, Richard Butler and his wife Karen of Burlington.
