Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home,263 Main Street, Woburn on Thursday, February 6th at 9:15 a.m. Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 79 Sheridan Circle, Winchester at 10. Calling hours Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Edward’s memory to the Immaculate Conception Restoration Fund, 1004 Main Street, Winchester, MA 01890.

OBITUARY:

Edward J. Desmond of Woburn died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 2nd, at the age of forty-one. He was the son of Margaret Eleanor (Fennell) and the late Richard V. Desmond.

Born in Woburn, he was educated in the Woburn public schools, graduating with the class of 1980. For the last fourteen years he had been employed by the US Postal Service in North Reading.

“Eddie,” as he was known to all his friends, was very involved in computers since their inception and was an avid follower of the technology, developing, and programming. He was an active member of the Irish American Club and the Woburn Lodge of Elks.

In addition to his mother Eleanor, Eddie is survived by three brothers, William E. and his wife Annette of Hooksett, NH, Richard T. and his wife Bernita of Merrimack, NH, and Paul M. Desmond of Woburn; also his nieces Bridgette, Brittany, Karaleigh, and nephews Robert and Collin Desmond.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Thurdsay, February 6th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 79 Sheridan Circle, Winchester, at 10.

Calling hours are on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Eddie’s memory to the Immaculate Conception Church Restoration Fund, 1004 Main Street, Winchester, MA 01890.

    It was with great sadness that I read of Eddie’s death in today’s Boston Globe. He and I graduated from Woburn High together and I remember him with great fondness as a kind, sensitive and gentle soul.

    My heartfelt regrets and prayers go out to his good family.
