Son of Ann (Baresse) Kairo of Chelsea and the late Peter F. Kairo, he grew up in Chelsea and graduated from Chelsea High School with the class of 1966. He continued his education at U. Mass-Amherst.
An auto mechanic, he was employed for over twenty-two years at Good News Garage in Cambridge. In recent months he had started up his own auto repair business.

Over the course of the past several years, he and his wife had hosted Japanese exchange students in their home.
Another of his varied interests was martial arts, which he had studied for many years and in which he was still active at the time of his death. He had also recently joined the Masons in Cambridge.

Fifteen years later and I’m still thinking about all the good times with Peter. Just now listening to his album, I’m grateful that I had some small part of that and that I still have a copy to listen too every now and then. Pete was a great talent and a genuine good guy. We’re all missing you Pete.
Would like to thank you for teaching me some guitar chords and notes at 1869.
Deeply upset to learn your gone but i have not forgotten you or
The Tam.
Have decided to stick with guitar and am now taking piano.
See you at the Great Gig in The Sky.
Pete brightened and enriched the lives of all of us who knew and loved him. We’ll be forever gratefull for that priceless gift and will cherish him in our hearts always.
Pete was such a rare and unusual person, and such a gift
to have as a friend. He was talented, funny, smart and so
generous with his time and his talents. I send my heartfelt
sympathy to his family and all who loved him.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Pete for many years, since he first came to perform at Blanchards Tavern, may years ago. He was a great person and a great musician. He will be greatly missed. When patrons knew Peter was entertaining, the tavern would be filled and everyone had a great evening.I’m glad I had the chance to know Pete
I FEEL THAT IT WOULD BE FAIR TO SPEAK FOR ALL WHO HAVE EVER HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO EITHER WORK WITH YOU, OR THE PLEASURE OF JUST SITTING BACK ENJOYING
ALL OF YOUR TALENTS THAT YOU SO GENEROUSLY SHARED WITH US. WE LOVE YOU AND YOU WILL FOREVER BE IN OUR HEARTS.
To Joanne and family: We were fortunate to meet Peter about 15 years ago at Blanchards Tavern. We truly enjoyed his music and sense of humor. Later meeting you and Nina made the circle complete. We will certainly miss him! Thoughts are with you at this time.

My good friend Ed Levis has been a student of Pete’s for many years. I felt like I indirectly benefited from Ed’s lessons. My recent memory of Pete is when Ed “dragged” him out to see me perform at an Open Mic, I think I was putting the audience to sleep. Pete decided he would be interested in performing that night. He was amazing, played for a good 40 minutes… everyone in the restaurant were focused on Pete. It’s hard to describe the positive impact he had on everyone. Ed and I both felt quite fortunate to experience Pete’s performance, which happened last month. It was such a nice night out with Pete, we all had a chance to talk about music and life. Pete was an amazing man, we’ll all miss him very much.
