Devoted mother of John S. of Woburn, Martin T. and his wife Julianne of CO, Stephen J. and his wife Charlene, Thomas M. and Mary E. Harkins and her husband Kenneth all of Woburn. Dear sister of John and Patrick Hession, Margaret Lynch, Christina Flaherty, Bridie Shields all of Ireland and Mary Eaton of England. Loving grandmother of Megan, Ryan, Connor, Erin, Taylor, Kyle and Caleigh Flaherty and Sarah and Lauren Harkins. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Saturday, January 4th at 11:15 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 12 Noon. Calling hours, Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. OBITUARY:

Helen M. Flaherty passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 1st. Mrs. Flaherty was stricken at home and passed away at Winchester Hospital. The beloved wife of Stephen Flaherty, she was seventy-eight years of age. Born in Galway, Ireland, Helen was the daughter of the late Martin and Bridgett (Maguire) Hession. Educated in Ireland, Helen moved to Woburn at the age of twenty-three bringing with her an Irish heritage, of which she was most proud. Helen and her husband Stephen, to whom she was married for forty-five years, had lived in Woburn since 1957 where they raised their five children. Mrs. Flaherty was most dedicated to her family and after her children were grown she went to work at TRW where she was employed for twelve years. In later years, Helen enjoyed the company of her grandchildren whom she cherished. Throughout her life, the Catholic Church played an important role in her daily life. Mrs. Flaherty and her husband were parishioners at St. Charles Church in Woburn.

Mrs. Flaherty is survived by her husband Stephen, her sons, John S. of Woburn, Martin T. and his wife Julianne of CO, Stephen J. and his wife Charlene, Thomas M. , her daughter Mary E. Harkins and her husband Kenneth all of Woburn, her brothers John and Patrick Hession, her sisters Margaret Lynch, Christina Flaherty, Bridie Shields all of Ireland, Mary Eaton of England and her grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Connor, Erin, Taylor, Kyle and Caleigh Flaherty and Sarah and Lauren Harkins.
