JOHN A. ROBERTSON – in Woburn, December 23rd, beloved husband of Ruth L. (Lettieri) Robertson. Devoted father of Richard B. Robertson and his wife Maria of Fairborn, OH. Brother of the late Dorothy E. Thompson. A memorial service will be celebrated in the Storey Chapel at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mt. Auburn Street, Cambridge, on Tuesday, December 31st at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made in Mr. Robertson’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, 36 Cameron Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140, or to Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue, PO Box 808, Hudson, MA 01749-0808. Arrangements by the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn.

OBITUARY:

A memorial service will be held tomorrow for John A. Robertson of Woburn, who passed away in Winchester on Monday, December 23rd at the age of seventy-seven. He was the husband of Ruth L. (Lettieri) Robertson for over fifty-three years.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late John B. and Olive (Shaw) Robertson. He grew up in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School with the Class of 1943. He continued his education at art school, where he studied technical illustrating.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy. He began his military service as an air traffic controller at the Brunswick Naval Air Station in Maine, and was later reassigned to the Navy destroyer USS Albert W. Grant, where he saw action in the South Pacific and the Philippines.

Following the war, he went to work for Raytheon, where he was a technical illustrator for over twenty-seven years.

Mr. Robertson was a lifelong deacon at the First Congregational Church in Woburn, and he had a special love for animals of all kinds.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy E. Thompson.

Surviving in addition to his beloved wife Ruth are a son, Richard B. Robertson and his wife Maria of Fairborn, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
