Dear brother of Robert and Edward Duffy, Majorie Pizzo, Mary Fossey all of Woburn and the late Mildred Dooley, Charles,Thomas, Jr. and John Duffy. Loving grandfather of four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Francis A. Duffy passed away Saturday, December 7th, at the Walden Nursing Center in Concord. The beloved husband of Jeannette C. (Harkins) Duffy, he was eighty-six years of age.

Born in Woburn, he was the son of the late Thomas (former Mayor of Woburn) and Mary Alia (O’Donnell) Duffy. Raised and educated in Woburn, Francis was a graduate of Woburn of Woburn High School in 1933.

He enlisted in the Army during WWII serving overseas in Italy and Africa. Upon his return from military service he was employed by the Veterans Administration as a Chief Appraiser where he remained for thirty-five years until his retirement. He was a member of the Retired Federal Workers Association. In 1945, he and his wife, Jeannette, to whom he was married for fifty six years, made their home in Arlington. Francis was very devoted to his wife and their three sons. In his younger years he was an avid baseball player and enjoyed bowling.

Francis was predeceased by his brothers Charles, Thomas Jr. and John, his sister Mildred Dooley.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette C. (Harkins) Duffy, his sons, Donald of Palmer, Arthur C. of Arlington, Richard of Hamstead, NH, his brothers, Robert and Edward of Woburn, his sisters Majorie Pizzo and Mary Fossey of Woburn and four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
