Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, December 7th, at 10:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 11. Calling hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made in Rita’s memory to the Winchester Hospital Development Fund, 41 Highland Ave., Winchester, MA 01890, or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

OBITUARY:

Rita L. App, a lifelong Woburn resident, passed away at Winchester Hospital Wednesday evening, December 4th, following a brief illness. She was the wife of Louis J. App, with whom she celebrated fifty years of marriage just a few weeks ago.

Born in Woburn 79 years ago, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (King) Doucette. She was a graduate of Woburn High School.

In earlier years, Rita was employed at Sylvania, General Electric, and United Carr-Fasteners in Wilmington.

In late September, she and her husband Louis were honored with a large family celebration on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Her many nieces and nephews thought lovingly of her as their “second mother???, and their children and grandchildren were very special to her. She rarely missed an event celebrating a graduation, wedding, christening, or birthday of any member of her extended family. Rita also enjoyed traveling and dancing.

Preceding her in death were a brother, George Doucette, and three sisters, Helena Gall, Ethel Lemone, and Pauline Miele.

Surviving are a brother, Raymond Doucette of California, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great-grandnieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, December 7th, at 10:15 a.m. , followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 11. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Friday 4 to 8 p.m.
