DELERY, RICHARD L. – of Woburn, December 2nd, beloved husband of Dorothy (Christo) Delery. Devoted father of Richard Jr. of CA, Robert of NJ, William of Woburn, and the late Susan and Dana. Loving grandfather of Kristopher and Collette Delery of NV. Brother of Fr. Mark (Alfred) of VA, John of TX, Corinne Brittain of England, Alice Delery of CA, Patricia Webber of NH, and the late Robert Delery, Adelaide Hampson, and Rita Benedetti. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, December 6th, at 9:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Calling hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. OBITUARY:

Richard L. “Dick??? Delery, 85, passed away at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 2nd, after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Christo) Delery for the past fifty-one years.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Louis and Albertine (Vezina) Delery. He was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School in 1935. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in England, North Africa, and Italy.

Dick and his wife Dorothy were married in 1951 and have been residents of Woburn since 1955. He worked in a managerial capacity at the Harvard University Computing Center for many years and retired in 1981.

Dick was a square dance caller and line-dance teacher throughout his life, calling for various groups and organizations. He had been a longtime member of the New England Folk Festival Association and the New England Square Dance Convention. He also volunteered his time teaching a wheelchair square dance group called the Wheel-A-Capers and taught young children at the Nazareth Home for Children in Jamaica Plain. Dick and his wife were past members of the Yankee Twirlers Square Dance Club of Woburn and the Red Hot Squares of Burlington. An avid golfer, he enjoyed golfing with friends and family for many years.

For the past two and a half years he had been cared for at the Bedford Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in the Alzheimer’s / Dementia Unit. His family expresses gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful care he received there.

Preceding him in death were a son, Dana A. Delery, a daughter, Susan M. Delery, a brother, Robert Delery, and two sisters, Adelaide Hampson and Rita Benedetti.

Surviving in addition to his wife Dorothy are three sons, Richard Jr. of California, Robert of New Jersey, and William of Woburn; two brothers, Fr. Mark (Alfred) of Virginia and John of Texas,and three sisters, Corinne Brittain of England, Alice Delery of California, and Patricia Webber of New Hampshire.

He was also the loving grandfather of Kristopher and Collette Delery of Nevada, and is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, December 6th, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
