Nolan, Francis S. “Red??? – in Woburn, October 22nd, beloved husband of Mary M. (Burns) Nolan. Devoted father of Kevin Nolan and his wife Bonnie and Marybeth Nolan and her husband Mehdi Javidan, all of Woburn, Charles S. Nolan of Natick, Michael W. Nolan and his wife Patricia of Stoneham, and Christopher D. Nolan of Wakefield. Dear brother of Charles of Falmouth, Alfred of VA, and the late Walter and Kevin. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, October 25th, at 10:45 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 11:30. Calling hours Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, W. Roxbury. Donations may be made in Red’s memory to the Woburn Council of Social Concern, 19 Campbell Street, Woburn, MA 01801. OBITUARY:

Francis S. Nolan, known affectionately as “Red??? to family and friends, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Tuesday, October 22nd. The husband of Mary M. (Burns) Nolan for the past sixty-two years, he was eighty-seven.

Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Francis S. and Mary E. (Foley) Nolan. He was raised in Somerville, where he attended school. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He had made his home in Woburn with his family since 1953.

Employed by First National Stores in Somerville for forty-four years, he also worked at the South Boston Postal Annex for twenty-five years within the same period. At the time of his death he was employed by GEI Consultants in Winchester as a courier. For a number of years he served as President and Business Agent for Teamsters Local 829, which is now Local 25.

He was an avid sports fan, particularly football. He rarely missed a game at Hamilton College in New York, where his beloved grandson played football. He also enjoyed salt water fishing and boating. For many years he had many happy times at his home on Lake Winisquam in New Hampshire, where he and his wife had many friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Kevin Nolan.

Surviving in addition to his wife Mary are four sons, Kevin Nolan and his wife Bonnie, Charles S. Nolan of Natick, Michael W. Nolan and his wife Patricia of Stoneham, and Christopher D. Nolan of Wakefield, and a daughter, Marybeth Nolan and her husband Mehdi Javidan of Woburn; two brothers, Charles of Falmouth, and Alfred of VA. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, October 25th, at 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 11:30.

Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, W. Roxbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Red’s memory to the Woburn Council of Social Concern, 19 Campbell Street, Woburn, MA 01801.
