Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, September 23rd, at 8:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. Calling hours Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Mrs. Haggerty’s memory to Hospice Care, Inc., 41 Montvale Avenue, Stoneham, MA 02180.

OBITUARY:

Virginia L. Haggerty of Woburn passed away at her home here Wednesday evening, September 18th, following a long illness. The wife of the late Edward F. Haggerty, who died in 1978, she was seventy-six.

Born in Wilmington, she was the daughter of the late David H. and Gertrude Nimblett Horne McDermott. She grew up on Garfield Avenue in Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School. Except for a few years in Winchester, she made her home in Woburn all her life.

For a number of years she worked as a telephone operator for the W.R. Grace Company, retiring at the age of sixty-two.

A devoted mother and grandmother, she loved spending time with her family. An avid football fan, she was a great fan of the New England Patriots and rarely missed seeing a game.

In addition to her husband Edward, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ralph “Mike??? Stokes.

Surviving are her daughter, Jeanne R. Haggerty and her husband Pasquale “Pat??? Frano of Billerica, her devoted sister and brother-in-law, Jody and Jim Tighe of Burlington, and her beloved grandson, Christopher Frano of Billerica. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, September 23rd, at 8:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
