McSorley, Elizabeth Anne “Betty??? (MacDonald), September 11th, beloved mother of Sheryl A. Olson and her husband Lawrence, Roxanne E. Mogauro and her husband Patrick, and Lauren M. Taylor, all of Woburn, and Robin N. Mogauro and her husband Paul of Wilmington. Dear sister of Gordon MacDonald of N. Reading, Francis MacDonald of Malden, and Jack MacDonald of Chelsea. Loving grandmother of Patrick, Jesse, Shawn, Joshua, and Joseph. Also survived by a great-granddaughter, Ashley, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 13th, at 5 p.m. in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no calling hours, and interment is private. Donations may be made in Betty’s memory to the VNA of Middlesex East, 607 North Avenue, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.

OBITUARY:

Elizabeth “Betty??? McSorley, a resident of Woburn for the past forty-two years, passed away at the home of her daughter in Wilmington Wednesday morning, Septmeber 11th, following an illness of several months. She was sixty-seven years of age.

Born in Everett, the daughter of the late Edmond and Alice (Rooney) MacDonald, she graduated from Everett High School. She raised her four daughters on Woburn’s West Side. For twenty-five years she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Symmes Hospital in Arlington. Later she worked in private practice as a physician’s assistant in plastic surgery for Dr. Joseph.

Betty, as she was known to family and friends, enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, and shopping. Since her retirement seven years ago, she took great pleasure in meeting her friends for lunch and other social activities. To all who knew her, she was a kind, giving woman who would anonymously take care of needy families at holiday times.

She was a member of the Irish American Club in Arlington.

Surviving are her four daughters, Sheryl A. Olson and her husband Lawrence, Roxanne E. Mogauro and her husband Patrick, and Lauren M. Taylor, all of Woburn, and Robin N. Mogauro and her husband Paul of Wilmington; three brothers, Gordon MacDonald of N. Reading, Francis MacDonald of Malden, and Jack MacDonald of Chelsea; five grandchildren, Patrick, Jesse, Shawn, Joshua, and Joseph; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley.

She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends.

    We will miss Auntie very, very much. She was a wonderful woman and I feel very blessed that she was a part of my life and a member of our family. She is now out of pain and with many friends and family members. We will always remember the good times we shared. Love always.
