Smith, George H. – in Woburn, formerly of Medford, August 9th, beloved husband of Beverly A. (Carlson) Smith. Devoted father of Kimberly J. of Boston and George H. Jr. and Gary T., both of Woburn. Dear brother of Edward G. Smith of Bellingham, Meredith A. Perkins of Randolph, Correen L. McCoombs of Medway, Beverly J. Smith of Medford, and Andrea J. McFall of Franklin, NH. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, Kerri, Anna, Kyle, Kara, and Kaitlyn. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, August 13th, at 10:45 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 11:30. Calling hours Monday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. OBITUARY:

George H. Smith of Woburn passed away at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford Friday evening following a brief illness. The husband of Beverly A. (Carlson) Smith for over forty-five years, he was a Supervisor with the City of Medford Parks Department.

Born in Everett sixty-five years ago, he was the son of the late George H. and Florence M. (Lucas) Smith. He was raised and educated in Medford, graduating from Medford High with the Class of 1955. He began working for the City of Medford forty-two years ago, starting in the cemetery department and later the Parks Department, where he was a supervisor. Earlier he had been president of the Medford Municipal Employees Union for a number of years.

He took up residence in Woburn in 1975, and enjoyed bowling and taking trips to Foxwoods with his wife Beverly. He also took great pleasure in vacationing with his family in Sandwich on the Cape. He was formerly a member of the Winchester Lodge of Elks.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kimberley J. Smith of Boston, two sons, George H. Smith, Jr. and Gary T. Smith, both of Woburn; a brother, Edward G. Smith of Bellingham, and four sisters, Meredith A. Perkins of Randolph, Correen L. McCoombs of Medway, Beverly J. Smith of Medford, and Andrea J. McFall of Franklin, NH. He was also the beloved grandfather of Kerri , Anna, Kyle, Kara, and Kaitlyn Smith.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, August 13th, at 10:45 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 11:30. Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
