Tofuri – in Woburn, June 28th, Josephine F. (Tropea), beloved wife of Andrew H. Tofuri. Devoted mother of Richard C. Tofuri of Essex and Andrew H. “Drew??? Tofuri, Jr. of Houston, TX. Dear sister of Catherine Lancelotta, Ann Gonsalves, and Vincent Tropea, all of Woburn, Terrie Ford of Onset, Michael Tropea of NH, and the late Joseph and Salvatore Tropea and Mary Pesaturo. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, July 1st, at 8:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 9. Calling hours Sunday 4 to 7 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in her memory to Winchester Hospital, 41 Highland Avenue, Winchester, MA 01890.

OBITUARY:

Josephine F. Tofuri, a resident of Woburn for most of her life, passed away here early this morning (June 28th) following an extended illness. Wife of Andrew H. Tofuri for the past sixty-two years, she was eighty-two years of age.

Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Maria (Dovere) Tropea. She attended Woburn schools and lived in Winchester for a few years following her marriage. She and her husband, who at on time operated a gas station on the corner of Washington and Montvale, made their home on Garfield Avenue in Woburn for many years.

Mrs. Tofuri was active in the South End Italian Club and the Sons of Italy.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Joseph and Salvatore Tropea and a sister, Mary Pesaturo.

Surviving in addition to her husband Andrew are two sons, Richard C. Tofuri of Essex, and Andrew H. “Drew??? Tofuri, Jr. of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Catherine Lancelotta and Ann Gonsalves, both of Woburn, and Terrie Ford of Onset, and two brothers, Vincent Tropea of Woburn and Michael Tropea of NH.

She was also the beloved grandmother of five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, July 1st, 8:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 9. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Donations may be made in her memory to Winchester Hospital, 41 Highland Avenue, Winchester, MA 01890.
