Jose Humberto Martinez, a native of Argentina who had made his home in Woburn for the past twelve years, died unexpectedly early Monday morning at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington after having been stricken while at work. The husband of Susana (Sanchez) Martinez for over forty years, he was fifty-eight years of age.
Born in Argentina, he was the son of the late Juan and Juana (Polizotto) Martinez. He lived in San Juan, Argentina for most of his life, where he was highly regarded, working on his familys farm growing fruits and vegetables. In 1990 he came with his family to live in Woburn. Since that time he had been employed at Martignetti Enterprises in Woburn.
A special man to all who knew him, Humberto took great pride in working hard, which he continued to do throughout his life. His passion was driving a truck.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Bernardo Martinez.
Surviving in addition to his wife Susana are two sons, Jose Martinez of Argentina and Roberto Martinez of Woburn; three daughters, Maria Barbieri of Stoneham, Patricia and Rosa Martinez, both of Woburn; two brothers, Elio and Miguel Martinez, both of Argentina.
He was also the beloved grandfather of nine grandchildren, and uncle to several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, June 7th, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will be in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
