McDonough – in Woburn, March 21st, Arlene F. (Hutchins), beloved wife of the late Peter J. McDonough. Devoted mother of Paul W. and his wife Sharon R. of Burlington, Elizabeth A., Stephen P. and his wife Deborah, Mark G. and his wife Kim, all of Woburn, Jack and his wife Cynthia of Tewksbury, and the late Peter J. Jr. and Robert A. McDonough. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, March 23rd, at 9:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Calling hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Mrs. McDonough’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

OBITUARY:

Arlene F. McDonough of Woburn passed away at Winchester Hospital early Thursday morning following a lengthy illness. The wife of the late Peter J. McDonough, who died in 1988, she was 82 years of age.

Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Wilder and Agnes (Smillie) Hutchins. She was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1937. She worked as a hairdresser in Boston as a young woman.

Following her marriage in 1940, she moved to Woburn with her husband, and devoted herself to raising her family.

In addition to her husband Peter, she was preceded in death by two sons, Peter J. McDonough, Jr., and Robert A. McDonough.

Surviving are four sons: Paul W. McDonough of Burlington and his wife Sharon R., Elizabeth A. McDonough of Woburn, Stephen P. McDonough and his wife Deborah, Mark G. McDonough and his wife Kim, and Jack McDonough and his wife Cynthia of Tewksbury; a daughter, Elizabeth A. McDonough of Woburn; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, March 23rd, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will be in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
