Callahan – in Woburn, February 26th, Anna (Dango), beloved wife of Edward B. Callahan. Devoted mother of Diane M. Aufiero and her husband Robert of Winchester. Sister of Michael and Anthony Dango, Lena McSweeney, Elizabeth Garbino, Rose Kirk, and Jean MacDonald, all of Woburn, and the late Dominic, Charles, and Frankie. Also survived by two grandchildren, Jessica and Lauren Aufiero. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, March 2nd, at 9:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Calling hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Anna’s memory to the St. Charles Educational Fund, 280 Main Street, Woburn, MA 01801, or to the charity of one’s choice.

OBITUARY:

Anna Callahan, a lifelong Woburn resident, passed away early Tuesday morning in Weymouth following an extended illness. The wife of Edward B. Callahan, retired Fire Chief for the City of Woburn, for the past sixty-one years, she was eighty-three.

Born in Woburn, daughter of the late Anthony and Jennie (Gentile) Danca, she attended hairdressing school in Lowell, and operated a hair salon for many years, along with her sister Lena, on the corner of Pleasant and Warren Avenue.

Following her retirement, she traveled throughout the country as well as internationally with her husband. She loved flowers, plants, and doing projects around the house, and also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and making afghans. She was active in St. Charles Church.

Preceding her in death were her brothers, Dominic, Charles, and Frankie Dango.

Surviving in addition to her husband Edward are a daughter, Diane M. Aufiero and her husband Robert of Winchester; her brothers and sisters, Michael and Anthony Dango, Lena McSweeney, Elizabeth Garbino, Rose Kirk, and Jean MacDonald, all of Woburn.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, Jessica and Lauren Aufiero.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, March 2nd, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
