Craven of Norwood, Richard Craven of FL, and the late Thomas Craven and Dorothy Murray. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street (Rt. 38), Woburn, on Tuesday, January 29th, at 9:30 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 10. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30, prior to the funeral mass. Interment will be private. Donations may be made in Mrs. Murphy’s memory to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, PO Box 265, Boston, MA 02117.

OBITUARY:

Mary A. Murphy, a resident of Woburn’s West Side for many years, passed away in Arlington on Saturday morning, January 26th, following an extended illness. The wife of the late Francis P. Murphy who died ten years ago, she was eighty years of age.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Rose (Murray) Craven. She grew up in South Boston and graduated from Jeremiah Burke High School. She lived in Arlington for a time before taking up residence with her family on Woburn’s West Side in 1957.

Mrs. Murphy was a great fan of Irish music. She enjoyed many summers at Salisbury Beach, particularly the happy times she spent with her family at Club Edwards in Salisbury. She was an animal lover and had a great sense of humor, having led an active and fun-loving life until recent years.

In addition to her husband Francis, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Craven, and a sister, Dorothy Murray.

Surviving are her son, Brian F. Murphy and his wife Jennie of Woburn, and two brothers, John J. Craven of Norwood and Richard Craven of Florida.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street (Rt. 38), Woburn, on Tuesday, January 29th, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 10. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30, prior to the funeral mass. Interment will be private.
