OBITUARY:

Margaret A. Reddy, known as “Peggy” to family and friends, passed away in Newburyport early Saturday following a long illness. She was sixty-four years of age.

Born in Woburn, Peggy was raised on Alfred Street in North Woburn, the daughter of the late John A. and Mary A. (Kelleher) Reddy. Her father taught carpentry and shop at Woburn High School. She graduated from Woburn High School with the Class of 1954, and attended Boston University, Bentley, and Suffolk University. In1969, she moved to South Jersey, outside of Philadelphia, where she worked for Cygna for many years as a computer systems analyst and programmer.

In her younger days, she was active in sports car activities, and served as secretary of the Quannapowitt Sports Car Association for two years. She was also an avid bowler.

She retired in 1995, bought a motor home, and traveled for the next five years. She became a member of “Loners on Wheels”, an organization around the country of people who traveled in motor homes and stayed in camps and parks. Peggy made many friends during her journeys, and visited much of the country, venturing as far north as the Arctic Circle in her R.V. An enthusiastic traveler throughout her life, she had earlier traveled throughout Europe and Canada as well.

Peggy leaves two sisters, Doris M. McDonald of Newburyport, and Joan A. Jones and her husband Robert of Winslow, Maine; her aunts, Rose Brissenden of Woburn and Grace Riley of Stoneham; and her nephews and nieces: Kenneth McDonald, Jr., Carol Ryder, and Stephen, Timothy, and Melissa Jones.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, January 15th, at 9;15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
