Devoted mother of Mary Michaud of R.I. and her late husband Richard, Rita Souza and her husband Anthony J. of Woburn, and Barbara Conneely and her husband Martin of Tewksbury. Sister of the late William Doherty and Mary Hawkins. Cherished grandmother of Michael Michaud and Brian and Caitlin Conneely. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, January 12th, at 9:15 a.m. Funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 79 Sheridan Circle, Winchester, at 10. Calling hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Rita’s memory to the Immaculate Conception Church Restoration Fund, 1004 Main St., Winchester, MA 01890.

OBITUARY:

Rita A. (Doherty) McManus of Winchester passed away at Winchester Hospital on Thursday, January 10th, following a long illness. The wife of the late Edward L. McManus, who died in 1969, she was eighty-two years of age.

Born in Winchester, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Bridgete (Burke) Doherty. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Winchester and lived there all her life.

A homemaker, she was devoted to her family and valued the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was also an avid Bingo player and enjoyed reading.

Preceding her in death was a brother, William Doherty, and a sister, Mary Hawkins, and her son-in-law, Richard Michaud.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Michaud of R.I., Rita Souza and her husband Anthony J. of Woburn, and Barbara Conneely and her husband Martin of Tewksbury, and her grandchildren, Michael Michaud and Brian and Caitlin Conneely.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, January 12th, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 79 Sheridan Circle, Winchester, at 10. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in Rita’s memory to the Immaculate Conception Church Restoration Fund, 1004 Main St., Winchester, MA 01890.
