Giuffre – In Woburn, Saturday, January 5th, Peter, beloved husband of the late Josephine (Coscia) Giuffre. Devoted father of Catherine DeMattia and her husband Joseph and Marie Estabrook and her husband John all of Woburn. Brother of Stella Bowman of CA and the late John, Nunzio, Leane, Rose, and Josephine. Loving grandfather of Ann Marie Gallivan and her husband Brian, Joseph P. DeMattia, Michael and Christine Estabrook , and great granddaughter Sydney Ann Gallivan. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., (Rt 38S) Woburn on Tuesday, January 8th at 9:00 a.m followed by a Funeral Mass St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at 10. Calling hours are on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in Mr. Giuffre’s memory to the VNA of Middlesex East &Visiting Nurse Hospice, 607 North Ave., Wakefield, MA 01880.

OBITUARY:

Peter Giuffre of Woburn passed away Saturday, January 5th, at his home. The beloved husband of the late Josephine (Coscia) Giuffre, he was eighty-four years of age.

Born in Boston and raised in Charlestown, he was the son of the late Matteo and Caterina (Cammarata) Giuffre. Mr. Giuffre was a graduate of Charlestown High School and furthered his education at the Franklin Institute. He was a most talented man who enjoyed working with his hands. He taught sheet metal work at the Charlestown Navy Yard during WWII and was a member of Sheet Metal Union, Local #17. In addition, Peter worked for the B & M Railroad for over thirty-five years before retiring in 1970. Mr. Giuffre was a talented musician as well and played the guitar, accordion and the organ. He was a kind and caring man as demonstrated by his love of animals. Most importantly, Peter was very devoted to his family especially his beloved wife, Josephine of sixty-two years, who passed away in April and his grandchildren and great grandchild.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his wife Josephine, were his brothers John and Nunzio and his sisters Leane, Rose and Josephine.

Surviving are his daughters, Catherine DeMattia and her husband Joseph of Woburn, Marie Estabrook and her husband John of Woburn, his sister Stella Bowmna of CA, his grandchildren, Ann Marie Gallivan and her husband Brian, Joseph P. DeMattia, Michael Estabrook, Christine Estabrook and great grandchild, Sydney Ann Gallivan.
