Sister of the late Walter, Myles “Tommy” and William Quail. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Mary E. Frotten of Winchester passed away on Wednesday, April 18th, 2001, following a short illness. The wife of the late Peter J. Frotten, who died in 1962, she was ninety years of age.
Born in Winchester and raised in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Myles J. and Bridget (Doherty) Quail. She was a member of the first graduating class at St. Charles School, the class of 1927. Since the time of her marriage she had resided in Winchester.
Mrs. Frotten maintained an active life until just a few months ago. She had retired from her position as payroll clerk at Winchester Hospital in 1975, but since then had volunteered at the Jenks Senior Center in Winchester, and even learned to use a computer when she was eighty. She loved to travel, and enjoyed trips to most of the countries in Europe. She was one of the original members of the Immaculate Conception Church Sodality, and was active in many of the parish activities. She was also a member of the St. Charles Alumni Association.
In addition to her husband Peter, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Kerrigan, three brothers: Walter, Myles “Tommy”, and William Quail, her son-in-law, Thomas F. Burke, Jr., of Woburn, as well as a great-grandson, Zachary Kerrigan.
Surviving are three daughters, Marie Began and her husband Charles of Winchester, Shirley Hall and her husband Laurence of Florida, and Gail Burke of Woburn;
a son, Peter J. Frotten, Jr. and his wife Colette of Tewksbury;
her son-in-law, Ralph Kerrigan of Stoneham
eighteen grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, April 21st, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 79 Sheridan Circle, Winchester, at 10. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
