Donahue – in Woburn, unexpectedly, February 20th, 2001, John J., beloved husband of Nora A. (Mannion) Donahue. Devoted father of Sheila Donahue Walsh and her husband Kevin Walsh of Charlestown. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street (Route 38), Woburn, on Saturday, February 24th, at 9:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Calling hours Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Donations may be made in John’s memory to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143.

John J. Donahue of Woburn passed away unexpectedly after having been stricken at his home on Tuesday, February 20th, 2001. The husband of Nora A. (Mannion) Donahue, he was sixty-six years of age.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Patrick and Teresa (Tannian) Donahue. He graduated from Medford Vocational High School in 1953.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a personnel specialist in the 714th Transportation Railway Operating Battalion in the late 1950’s, stationed in Fort Eustis, Virginia.

He was employed for over thirty-five years as a printer for the Murray Printing Company in Westford. In later years, he went to work as a security officer for Stone and Webster Engineering Company.

Mr. Donahue volunteered his time to various charitable causes, including Meals on Wheels. He recently had begun as an Altar Server at St. Charles Church. He was also a Life Member of the Woburn Lodge of Elks.

In addition to his wife of thirty-six years, Nora, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sheila Donahue Walsh and Kevin Walsh of Charlestown.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, February 24th, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made in John’s memory to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143.
