Frederick L. Melanson of Woburn passed away early Sunday morning, November 30th, 1997, after an extended illness. The husband of Carolina A. (Dydzulis) Melanson for over fifty years, he was seventy-seven years of age.

Born in Revere, he was the son of the late Frederick O. and Mary (Landry) Melanson. He graduated from Revere High School and went on to Fitchburg State College, earning a degree in education. Mr. Melanson served with the US Army during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations.

Having moved to Woburn over forty years ago, Mr. Melanson made his home in the Central Square section of the city. He was an Industrial Arts teacher at Bedford High School until his retirement fourteen years ago.

He held membership in the George Campbell Post 101 American Legion.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Joseph and Clifford Melanson.

Along with his wife Carolina, he leaves three sons, Richard of Woburn, Gary of Lee, NH, John of Stoneham, a daughter, Karen Montgomery of Stoneham, and 8 grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, December 3rd at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
