Funeral-Planning

What’s Important to You Is Important to Us

There are many decisions to be made and details to take care of. Our job is to make the process easier and to ensure your family’s values, preferences and cultural and religious traditions are honored. Your job is to take care of yourself and your loved ones.

We will:

  • Prepare your loved one for viewing and burial
  • Make arrangements for burial or cremation and transfer your loved one
  • Help plan the wake and service, including song selection and readings
  • Host the wake
  • Host and direct the funeral
  • Write and send out the death notice and obituary
  • Support you in any way you need throughout the process

In cases where families prefer not to have a service, we offer the option of direct burial or cremation.

Costs vary according to your choices, but we always strive to make pricing transparent and to work within your budget.

When a Death Occurs

The first step is to call us at 781-933-0400 to report your loved one’s death. We are available 24/7, 365 days a year.

After we are notified, we will take your loved one into our care and set up a time for the arrangement conference. To expedite the process, you may enter your loved one’s basic information in this online form.

Death in an Institution: When the death occurs at a hospital or nursing home, the medical staff should take care of all the legal steps. You just need to notify the medical staff that Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements, as you may need to sign release paperwork.

Anticipated Death at Home: Today, more people with terminal illnesses are electing to die at home under the care of Hospice. Please notify Hospice that Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home will be taking care of the arrangements and Hospice will attend to the legal requirements. Often, when a loved one has a terminal illness, the family has already made arrangements with us to lessen the stress of making important decisions at the time of death.

Unanticipated Death at Home or Elsewhere: Call 911 immediately. The police and emergency medical personnel will determine the next steps. Often, the police, after speaking with the medical examiner, may release the deceased directly to the funeral home you designate.

Death out of State: If the death occurs outside of Massachusetts, please call Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home at 781-933-0400. We have a large nationwide network of funeral director colleagues and will coordinate with a reputable local director where the death occurred.

This is a naturally difficult time, compounded by the fact that you are faced with many decisions that must be made as you begin to plan the funeral. You may feel overwhelmed by these decisions. When you are able to make informed choices, you are empowered with the important information needed to plan a meaningful funeral.”
