OBITUARY:
Joey Cagnina aka Sugar was born on Ellis Court in Woburn in 1934 and was the son of Jerome and Grace Cagnina. He died peacefully surrounded by family on March 26, 2014.
For many years Joey was the owner and operator of Jerrys Barber Shop, previously owned by his dad Jerry, located on Main Street, Woburn. The barber shop was a local gathering spot for his many friends. On most Saturdays it was the spot where lively conversation flowed and Checkers was played. After Joey closed his shop on Main Street he continued to cut hair for his many friends in the basement of his home on Ellis Court.
Upon retiring from barbering, he was a very popular custodian in the Winchester School System. He was respected and adored by teachers and students alike.
Joey was the quintessential Woburnite and belonged to many local organizations including the Moose, the City Club, the Sons of Italy, the Towanda Club, and was an honorary member of the V.F.W.
Joey will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him, and his memory will be kept alive by his loving wife Cheryl, his two daughters Karen and Amy, his grandchildren, his siblings, and his nieces and nephews.
