OBITUARY:

Dolores A. (Sillari) Trotta passed away peacefully at her home, amongst family, early Sunday morning, March 10th. The beloved wife of Horace A. Trotta, she was seventy-nine years of age.

Born in Somerville, she was one of four children born to the late Alfred and Stella (Boudreau) Sillari. Raised in Somerville, Dolores was educated at St. Clements in Medford and a graduate of St. Clements High School with the Class of 1952. Following high school she continued her education at Hickox Secretarial School in Boston. She began working at Liberty Mutual Insurace Co. until her marriage to the love of her life, Horace Trotta, in 1959.

They made their home for several years in Somerville but then moved to the West Side of Woburn, where it was all countryside. They raised their four children there and Dolores was actively involved in all their academic and sporting activities. She was a wonderful stay-at-home mother, and once the youngest was in school, she volunteered her time at the Reeves school library for a good number of years. After the children were older, Mrs. Trotta secured herself a position at Service Merchandise where she worked for some years. A woman with a very strong work ethic, she was always being commended for her hard work. She made many good friends while working there. Dolores was also an active customer there on her off time! After Service Merchandise closed, she then went back to working in insurance, only this time at Utica, the company from which she retired.

The children all grew and began families of their own. “Nana” absolutely loved being “Nana.” Spending valuable time with her grandchildren meant a great deal to her. She shared a very special relationship with them individually, which was always special to each of them.

A woman of strong faith and great devotion, she was always a very active parishioner at St. Barbara’s Church and belonged to the Woman’s Club and also St. Barbara’s Choir.

Her faith, her family, and her wonderful devotion to both, gave her the greatest joys each and every day of her life.

Dolores was sadly predeceased by her sister, Audrey Tyner.

In addition to her beloved husband of fifty-four years, Horace, she is lovingly survived by her children, Denise M. Banks and her husband Ken of Littleton, Jeanne F. Costello and her husband Kevin of Burlington, Stephen S. Trotta and his wife Patricia of Woburn, and Michael J. Trotta and his partner Heath Stone of Portsmouth, NH; her brother, Alfred Sillari and his longtime girlfriend Susan Delli-Colli of Woburn; her sister, Diane Sillari of San Diego, CA; and her cherished grandchildren, Jacqueline and Matthew Trotta, and Christopher and Melissa Costello, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Thursday, March 13th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at 10. Calling hours on Wednesday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Remembrances may be made in Mrs. Trotta’s memory to VNA of Middlesex East, 607 North Ave, Ste 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.

    To The Family
Dolores was my childhood friend as well as my cousin. She was my Maid of Honor at my
    wedding. I will miss her.

  7. Deepest condolences. I had great memories of Mrs. Trotta growing up, and in recent times as well. She was always a great companion to my mom. My mom will miss her tremendously. I’ll also miss coming home and seeing “the ladies” congregating in my mom’s apartment gossiping away. Look forward to seeing her again in Heaven someday.
