OBITUARY:
Marjorie (Duffy) Pizzo passed away after a brief illness at The Winchester Hospital on Friday, March 7th. The beloved wife of the late Paul F. Pizzo, she was eighty-six years of age.
Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Honorable Mayor Thomas H. and Mary (O’Donnell) Duffy. One of twelve children, she was raised and educated in the South End of the city and was a graduate of St. Charles High School Class of 1945. In 1947 she married her longtime childhood sweetheart Paul Pizzo. Together they brought into the world three very dear and devoted children. They remained in the South End after their marriage and where they have always made their home. Very devoted to her children, she was very attentive and always active throughout her lifetime. Many happy vacations were spent in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, where just about all the family would come to visit and summer was celebrated.
As her children began their own families, Margie proudly became “Grammie.”
Saturday nights were devoted to her grandchildren, as it was the special night of the week where it was “sleepover” night.
From watching Love Boat and Fantasy Island to learning how to crochet, knit, and play games, no one every missed their night with Grammie.
Margie was very crafty through the years. She made ceramics, knitted vast and various items, crocheted, and quilted, and had made wall hangings and would gift them all to family and friends. Margie also began painting landscapes with acrylics and oils, which were truly masterpieces, again, shared amongst her loved ones. When it came to computers or anything really to do with technology, she had to have it and loved it! She was masterful when it came to anything with technology and was referred to as a real “Techie.”
Margie paid a great deal of attention to detail to everything in her life. Her grandchildren would always refer to her as “fancy” as she would dress meticulously, with everything matching. A very happy, fun-loving person, Margie was extremely active throughout her eighty-six years. She had great faith, and lots of love that she shared with family and friends alike, having left some wonderfully fond memories for all to cherish.
Mrs. Pizzo was sadly predeceased by her husband, Paul F. Pizzo, Sr. and her siblings, Esther Doherty, Mildred Dooley, and John, Thomas Jr., Joseph, Arthur, Francis, Edward, and Charles Duffy.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Judith A. Pizzo, Paul F. Pizzo, Jr., and Jo-Anne M. Bogus and her husband John, all of Woburn; her siblings, Robert Duffy and Mary Fossey, both of Woburn; her grandchildren, Lisa Garrett and her husband Jay, Michelle Bogus and her husband Jim, and Lauren and Bryan Bogus, all of Woburn; and her great-grandchildren, Julie and Joshua Garrett, and Mikayla, Lily, and Kassandra Bogus.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Tuesday, March 11th at 10 a.m. Calling hours Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
