OBITUARY:

Stephen Michael Porter passed away unexpectedly at his home in Somerville on Thursday, March 6th. The beloved son of the late Thomas and Marjorie A. (Lux) Porter, he was sixty-two years old.

Born in Boston, he was one of five children born into the Porter family. Raised in east Woburn, he was educated here and a graduate of Woburn High School Class of 1970. During high school he had the job that almost every high school student would want and that was selling hot dogs and coke at Fenway Park! He continued his education at Franklin Mechanical Institute and had worked for a while as a mechanic in nuclear metals.

Being a young man and full of adventure, he decided to pursue Class A licensure, attended New England Tractor Trailer School, bought his own tractor trailer, and he was off! He would haul loads across the country, visiting almost every state in the United States. A very friendly and outgoing gentleman, he made friends everywhere he went and would always try and stop by again, to see them on his next trip.

He always kept in close contact with his brothers and sister. Frequent trips were made to Myrtle Beach and Sugarloaf to play a few days of golf, and he was often visiting to catch up with family. He held a very special place in his heart though for his dear nieces and nephew, of whom he was most proud.

Stephen is lovingly survive by his siblings, Thomas F. Porter of NE, Mark A. Porter and his wife Patricia “Patty” of Dracut, Andrea E. Logue and her husband Thomas of Hampton, NH, and Christopher L. Porter of Methuen; his nephew, Patrick Logue; his nieces, Kathleen “Katie” Logue and Lauren Porter; and his niece and Goddaughter, Bridget Porter.

Stephen Michael’s services were private and under the direction of the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, MA.
