OBITUARY:
Ivan R. Kirish passed away at his home Tuesday evening, March 4th, with his beloved family by his bedside. The devoted husband of Magdalena (Bumbarova) Kirish he was fifty-nine years of age.
Born in Smolian, Bulgaria, he was one of two sons born to Marin Kirishev and Ruska Kirisheva. He was raised and educated in his native country and received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Bulgaria. He was very renowned in mechanical engineering in his country and as a result he was sent to Nigeria and other countries surrounding to assist in the many different projects of which he had expertise.
Thirty-three years ago Ivan and Magdalena met and they have been together ever since. In 1986 they married and have since dedicated themselves to each other and their dear son George. In 1999, after several visits to the United States, they nestled themselves right into a home in North Woburn where they have remained. Finding it difficult to secure a position here, he returned to school and took up his longtime passion of aircraft mechanics. As a child he had always dreamt of being involved with airplanes and he felt now was the chance. Ivan attended the National Aviation Academy in Bedford. Immediately following his completion he secured a position with American Eagle Airlines, serving at both Logan Airport in Boston and JFK in New York, where he had remained.
Both he and his family loved to travel and that they did, to Hawaii, London, all over Europe, back to Bulgaria, and to many different Caribbean Islands. Ivan loved the beach and everything about it, the sand, ocean, sound of the sea and the tranquility of it all. Since he was a child he enjoyed being by the water and began fishing at an early age, which he continued throughout his lifetime. Rockport was his choice place to be fishing. On the rocks at the ocean, fishing pole in hand, tide coming in, and the company of his wife and son, was a wonderful day.
A very bright, articulate, and determined man, he influenced those around him in very positive ways. Ivan always wanted the best for himself, his family and those whom he loved. Focused, motivational and driven, Ivan was a true believer in education. He never stopped learning and he challenged himself daily to be the best he could possibly be in every aspect of his life, and had met with great success.

Kirish of Woburn, and Marin Kirishev and Ruska Kirisheva, both of Bulgaria; his brother, Dimitar Kirishev and his wife Dobrinka of Bulgaria; his mother-in-law, Nadka Bumbarova of Woburn; his brother-in-law, Borislav Bumbarov and his wife Hristina Bumbarova of Bulgaria; and his grandchildren, Ivan and Radka, as well as his nieces and nephews, Nadia, Martin, Gargana, and Marina.

God saw you were getting tired,
And a cure was not to be,
So he put His arms around you,
And whispered, “Come to me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
Pochivaj v mir skapi!
Magdalena, George and Nadka

Zvyn na kambana

naokolo samo skryb i sylzi
i mnogo tyzhni dushi
Vseki podnasia tyzhen cvetia –
ne shte te vidim veche u doma…
i eto, dyzhd zapochva da vali,
no ne navyn, a v nashite ochi…
Napusni ni edin dostoen chovek, kojto vinagi e bil v syrcata ni i vinagi shte byde.
Pochivaj v mir skypi tatko i diado, neka dushata ti nameri pokoj!

“Those we love don’t go away;
they walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
so loved, so missed, so very dear.”

You may be out of our sight,
but never out of our mind.
Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about Ivan’s death. Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts. As you grieve know that we are remembering you and honoring the memory of Ivan. We will miss him.
