OBITUARY:
Barbara F. (Sullivan) McCauley passed away peacefully at the Woburn Nursing Center, amongst her dear son and family. The beloved wife of the late Edward A. McCauley she was eighty five years of age.
Born in Woburn, she was one of two daughters born to the late Dennis J. and Virginia (Butler) Sullivan.
Born, raised and educated in Woburn, she was a graduate of Woburn High School, Class of 1946. Following High School she began working at Suppliers Automotive as a book keeper. During the early seventies for she worked for Houghton Mifflin Company and then the City of Woburn Water Department, where she retired from in the late eighties.
One rainy night as she was at sitting at a bus stop, a friend stopped, asked if she would like a ride and was then introduced to this handsome young man Ed McCauley. They soon began dating and in 1953 they married. They made their home in the South End of Woburn, where she has remained. Several years later they brought their dear son Michael into the world to whom they were totally devoted. Mrs. McCauley loved to travel, so often she would surprise the family having booked many different and exciting trips.
As their son grew and began his own family they were thrilled… When the grandchildren arrived “Nana” was ecstatic, triplets and all girls! She just loved dotting all over them and shared a very special relationship with each one individually and as a group. They spent much time with each other and she was always involved in their sporting and academic activities, and was always included in the family vacations.
Mrs. McCauley was actively involved in life. She approached everything with much vim and vigor. A member of the Woburn Senior Center, she embraced everything that was happening there. Dances, informational meetings, traveling for the day, weekend or week, she was on board.
Mrs. McCauley and several very dear friends established themselves as the “Golden Girls.” Playing polka, travelling together, shopping, dining out and just enjoying each other’s company, added so much to her life.
A very loving and caring woman Mrs. McCauley was a very positive and up- beat woman. Always with a smile on her face, and a kind word for all, she touched quite a few people along her life’s journey.
Mrs. McCauley was predeceased by her husband, Edward A. McCauley.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Michael E. McCauley and his wife Kathleen of Woburn, her sister Lois Brittell of VA, her granddaughters, Sabrina, Samantha, and Mercedes McCauley, and her nieces, Kathy and Barbie Brittell.
