RIP Dad
My father passed away they say
one cold and gray and dreary day
I wasn’t there right by his side
but I still felt it when he died
Part of him was missing so
I thought it time to let him go
He had been missing for so long
the part of him that was his song
The part of dad that helped us all
and others too, the weak and small
The part of dad we loved so much
his honesty, gratitude and such
Compassion for his fellow man
his will to live God’s chosen plan
He wanted so to help us all and
dad was there when we would call
He is there still inside my mind
I see him when I try to find
My way out of a troubled spot
or when things get a little hot
I think what would my dad do now
what his wisdom would allow
My father passed away they say
one cold and gray and dreary day
But really he still lives in me
I still remember him you see
Remember him I always will
my dad lives on inside me still
