MARILYN T. “LYNN” (NOYES) EBRECHT, of Woburn, passed away peacefully on September 9th, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving behind a beautiful life defined by family, friendship, faith, and a genuine desire to help others.
Born and raised in Somerville, Marilyn attended Matignon High School and later studied accounting at Burdett College. She went on to work as a bookkeeper, first for the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and then other firms as the children grew. It was a career of which she was proud and enjoyed for many years.
On August 10th, 1968, Marilyn married the love of her life, John J. Ebrecht. Together, they settled in Woburn and spent the next 58 years side by side, building a home and raising their two daughters, Kim and Michelle. Their marriage was the foundation of a life filled with family, familiar traditions, and countless memories made together.
Family was always at the heart of Marilyn’s life. She was immensely proud of her daughters and especially delighted in becoming a grandmother. As her grandchildren grew and their lives took them to different parts of the country, Marilyn remained interested in everything they were doing and treasured every opportunity to have her family together. The holidays were particularly special to her, and she loved the traditions and laughter that came whenever everyone gathered around the table.
Marilyn had a generous heart and believed strongly in giving her time to others. She was an active member of the Friends of St. Anthony; member and past chair of the ‘Woburn Dollars for Scholars’ program; a volunteerwith PTO activities; a teacher in the parish CCD program; a master teacher in the CCD program helping new teachers adapt to the system. Lastly Marilyn was a Eucharistic minister to the home bound and bi-weekly distributed the Eucharist to them.
For her service she was nominated for and was awarded the Cheverus medal for “those who quietly and consistently make significant contributions to the life of the archdiocese”. That medal presentation was performed by Archbishop Richard Henning at the Cathedral on November 23, 2025.
She was a proud Patriot fan and attended games to watch them and her daughter Michelle, a Patriots cheerleader for eight years. Whether she was helping an organization, supporting a friend, or doing something thoughtful for her family, Marilyn found great purpose in caring for others.
Friendship also meant a great deal to Marilyn. She formed relationships that lasted through the years and had a way of making people feel remembered and cared for. She was the kind of person who valued staying connected and understood that some of life’s greatest gifts are the people who travel through it with us.
Marilyn also loved capturing life’s moments through photography. Family photographs became treasures, preserving the celebrations, ordinary days, and faces she loved most. She enjoyed the simple pleasures too—good food, a slice of pizza, and especially Lindell’s chocolate cake were always welcomed.
Above all, Marilyn loved her family fiercely. She was happiest knowing those she loved were happy, safe, and together. Her absence will be felt in so many familiar places—in family photographs, around the holiday table, during celebrations, and in the everyday moments when someone instinctively thinks to call or tell her something. Yet those same moments will keep Marilyn close, because the love and traditions she created are now part of the family she leaves behind.

My sincere condolences to Jack and the whole family. Lyn was such a wonderful woman. I loved seeing her at church and remember the years on the Friends of St Anthony with her. She will be missed. I’m keeping your family in my prayers for peace and comfort.
I first met Lynn as she brought her two beautiful girls to become students at the Linscott School. She soon became a devoted and willing PTO parent. She volunteered for field trip duty, Bake Sales and Spaghetti Night duty, always with a smile and gracious manner. She was an integral part of the Linscott PTO. It was always a pleasure to see her and her daughters each day. For a Principal, parents are parents but some are remembered as friends and Lynn became a true friend to the teachers and me while her girls were students at the Linscott. May the warm memories be carried each day in the hearts of Jack, Kim and Michelle. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
Our sincere condolences to Marilyns family
Jack and family: I submit my sincere condolences on the passing of Lynn. In so many ways she was a major contributor to the St.Anthony of Padua parish. Among many chores, her role as a Eucharistic minister was outstanding. With a twinkle in her eye and smile on her face, she majestically voiced “the body of Christ.” Her sincere hug each Sunday at the eleven was inspirational. Lynn is missed already. I’m certain that she’s “on eagle’s wings “ express to our Lord and Savior, to whom she was so devoted. Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum. Requiem in pace.
sigh – am sorry for your loss
