Jim was a loving son, brother, and the absolute best uncle you could ever ask for. He was like a brother to his cousins, and an amazing friend.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Oravetz, his siblings Debbie Carroll, Lisa Strandberg and her husband Karl, Peter and his wife Susie and Tim and his wife Jodi, his nieces and nephews Samantha and Joe DiPrisco, Carli and Kyle Strandberg, Averi and Evan Carroll, and his great-nephew, Hunter Clark, whom he cherished, and his cousins Jennifer Sargent and her children Amy and Mathew Doucet, Janelle Guarino and her son Jacob, and Jeff Nickerson.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Pete and Lee Thomson, stepfather Bill Oravetz, and his aunt, Phyllis Nickerson.
An avid lover of music, he had an extensive collection of albums and CDs. He had the uncanny ability to recite playlists and lyrics. Jim shared this love with his family and friends, attending many concerts together.
Jim was also a fan of New England sports teams and a long-time Patriots season ticket holder with his brothers and friend, Mike McMillan. He would often reminisce of the early days attending games and the “Rookie” tailgating days eating Lucci’s subs on the hood of Tim’s Daytona.
He also held a special place in his heart for his sisters. He loved being in their company and took great pride in watching them raise their families. He enjoyed spending time with his mother, always looking forward to their lunch dates.
Jim was always willing to lend a hand, whether helping family members move, assiting with finances in times of need, watching his nieces and nephews, or helping neighbors shovel out after a storm.
Brilliant, and, at times frustratingly complicated, Jim will be truly missed and forever loved by those who had the privilege to know him.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21st, at 11:00 a.m. in Lee Cemetery, Lee, New Hampshire. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to join the family for a luncheon immediately following the service at Telly’s Restaurant, 235 Calef Highway, Epping, New Hampshire.
You will be missed Jim it was nice to be your cousin in law
Very sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. We both worked at Urban Data and Harte-Hanks Data Technologies. Jim was a good guy and a great work colleague.
