Ronald “Bo” D. Stander – of Woburn, died peacefully, Monday, March 14th at the age of eighty-four. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen M. (O’Connor) Stander.
Born in Boston and raised in the West End section of the city, Bo was a son of the late Max and Anna (Monaco) Stander. In 1955, he moved with his family to Woburn where he made many lifelong friends. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1956, serving proudly during the Korean Conflict until being honorably discharged.
In 1964 Ronnie married his sweetheart, Helen O’Connor and together started and raised their family in the South End of Woburn. They brought a wonderful son and daughter into the world, to whom they were completely devoted. As a family they spent many summers at Hampton Beach where they enjoyed the sun, waves and making memories together.
Bo enjoyed playing cards and taking occasional trips to Las Vegas and the local racetracks. He was a member of the City Club as well as the Irish American Club in Woburn. He was an avid sports fan and a loyal fan of the Braves, who should have never left Boston.
Bo’s life was his family and let them know it every day. He was a loving, generous, strong, hardworking and supportive husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be deeply missed but never forgotten!
