Ann T. O’Connor passed away after a brief illness, Tuesday, August 3rd. Ann was a long time resident of Arlington, having lived in Woburn for the past six years. The beloved daughter of the late James and Mary O’Connor, Ann was ninety two years of age.
Born in Arlington, Ann was one of seven children. She grew up in Arlington , had attended school there and was a graduate of Arlington High School. Since Ann was a child she had taken to the “Arts!”
After High School Ann continued her interest in art and went on to Mass College of Art where she achieved her Bachelor of Arts Degree and then continuing on, she achieved her Masters Degree in the Arts and education.
Ann began her career in education in North Hampton as an Art Teacher. As she said then, it was where the job was and she needed to go there! Remaining there for several years she returned back this way in several communities, finishing up a wonderful career of over forty years in Malden.
Throughout those years Ann travelled near and far. Italy, Ireland, France, Hawaii, all across the United States and many different islands. Ann enjoyed sharing her adventures with her family and colleagues.
Ann’s greatest pleasure’s came through her connection with the arts. Her ability with a canvas and delicate paint brush in hand was phenomenal! Watercolor, acrylics it didn’t matter, Ann’s connection with nature and all its unbelievable landscape of flowers, trees, mountains, fields etc. was seen on what she captured on many, many of her different paintings. Could be a whole bunch of flowers or even just one flower, her creativity was extra ordinary, which she shared with many family and friends over the years. Birthday, anniversary, holiday or even just a note card, Ann made all her own cards over the years and those too were lovely.
Ann shared a wonderful sense of family with all her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, always enjoying those special family events and holidays over the years. A very no-nonsense type of person, Ann always dressed meticulously, with a wonderful flair for color and the finest of jewelry to match.
“Auntie Ann” as she has been called over the years by family, lived life to the fullest. A woman of strong faith, great devotion and an overwhelming sense of kindness, has left a lasting legacy of some truly memorable moments in time.
Ann sadly was predeceased by her parents James and Mary along with her siblings, Catherine, John, Mary, Frederick, and William O’Connor.
Ann was the devoted sister of Patricia Topping, her late husband Frank of Canada, dear sister-in-law of, Shirley O’Connor of Woburn, and Jean O’Connor also of Woburn. “Auntie Ann”, is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, great and grand, and some truly wonderful friends at Country Club Heights, in Woburn.
