JOHN J. HICKEY of Woburn, Dec.,22nd, 2017, at ninety three years of age. Beloved husband of the late Marjorie C. (Caplis) Hickey. Devoted father of Joan M. Sheehan, her husband John of Billerica, John T. Hickey of NH, and Jennifer M. Truss, her husband Mark of Foxborough. Dear brother of Margaret Madden of Arlington, Anne Madden of Belmont, Theresa McClenathan of Woburn and the late Mary Galvin, David Hickey and Celine Rich. Loving Papa of Meredith L. and Matthew J. Sheehan, John H. Hickey, Fiona E. and Justin W. Truss. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, Friday, December 29th at 11:45a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara's Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at Noon. OBITUARY

John J. Hickey, of Woburn passed away at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington on Friday, December 22nd with his loving family at his side. The beloved husband of the late Marjorie C. (Caplis) Hickey, he was ninety-three years of age.

Born and raised in Cambridge, John was one of seven siblings born to the late John T. and Margaret J. (Finn) Hickey. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and worked for many years as a Systems Analyst for B.F Goodrich Company and later for the Massachusetts State Registry Division. He retired in 1990.

John was introduced to the love of his life Marjorie by his sister, who lived across the street from Marjorie’s family. After dating three years they were married, and had continued to be devoted to one another throughout their fifty-five years of marriage. For a year they lived in Watertown and then bought their home in Woburn, where they raised their family. His family and faith were everything to him. He looked forward to family gatherings and celebrations. He was an active member of St. Barbara’s and taught religious education there for many years.

John loved reading, music and traveling. The highlight of his travels was a trip to Ireland. He also enjoyed day trips and long walks along the ocean. He was a big fan of the Red Sox and Celtics.

His greatest passion was walking. He was a familiar figure at Horn Pond where he walked daily for many years. John truly enjoyed his twenty-seven years of retirement. Every day he would read the Boston Globe, attend Mass and head to the pond for walk. Up until last year he bowled on Monday mornings with the Senior Bowling League. John truly had a wonderful life. He will be deeply missed by all.

In addition to his wife and his parents, John was pre-deceased by his siblings Mary Galvin, David Hickey and Celine Rich.

John is lovingly survived by his children Joan M. Sheehan, her husband John of Billerica, John T. Hickey of NH, and Jennifer M. Truss, her husband Mark of Foxborough.
