ROBERT E. "BOB" MCEACHERN of Woburn, December 18th, 2017 at eighty years of age. Beloved husband of Joan "Joannie" (Callahan) McEachern of Woburn. Loving brother of Ret. Air Force Col., Paul McEachern, his wife Elaine of Bedford, MA, James McEachern, his wife Kathy of Rindge, NH, Margaret Rusconi, her husband Paul of Braintree, MA and Anne Lipcan, her husband Daniel of Atlantis, FL. Cherished brother in law of Walter Callahan, his wife Denise of Woburn, Jeanne Pecora, her husband John of Bedford, Claire Guyette and her husband Bruce of NH and Cheryl Callahan of FL. Bob is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, Wednesday, Dec.,27th at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10:30a.m. Interment in Bourne National Cemetery. OBITUARY

Robert E. "Bob" McEachern, 80, died peacefully, Monday, December 18, 2017

at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Joan (Callahan) McEachern.

Born in Dorchester, MA, Bob was a son of the late Paul T. and Margaret E.

(Keefe) McEachern. He was educated in Dorchester and a graduate of Dorchester High School. Bob served proudly as a helicopter mechanic the US Army until retiring due to illness.

For many years, Bob worked as a letter carrier for the US Post Office, beginning in Braintree, and retiring in 1997.

Bob met the love of his life, Joan in 1969 in South Boston, and the two

married in 1971. They made their home in Braintree until moving to Woburn

17 years ago. Bob and Joan had a marriage full of love,

commitment and faith. As Bob's health declined, Joan never left his side,

visiting him every day at the VA Hospital, even if it was the just hold his

hand as he slept. The love they had for each other was enviable. Bob was a

man with a strong faith and was a longtime communicant of St. Charles

Church. When he was well, he and Joan would attend church daily.

Bob had a youthful soul and a fascination and love for Disney World, where

he held a season pass for many years. Bob loved the magic and innocence of

Disney World and enjoyed everything it had to offer, including the rides. He

was a spontaneous person and would take last minute trips to Disney, where

he would stay at the Shades of Green Army resort. He was an avid traveler

and summered in Falmouth on Cape Cod for forty years. He enjoyed the beach,

sailing and fishing. He and Joan traveled extensively, most often to

Florida, Europe and Hawaii. He will be sorely missed by his family and

friends.

Along with his wife Joan, Bob was the loving brother of Ret. Air Force Col.,Paul McEachern, his wife Elaine of Bedford, MA, James McEachern, his wife Kathy of Rindge, NH, Margaret Rusconi, her husband Paul of Braintree, MA and Anne Lipcan, her husband Daniel of Atlantis, FL. Cherished brother-in-law of Walter Callahan, his wife Denise of Woburn, Jeanne Pecora, her husband John of Bedford, Claire Guyette and her husband Bruce of NH and Cheryl Callahan of FL. Bob is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.

A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, Wednesday,

Dec.,27th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10:30. Interment in Bourne National Cemetery.
