Obituary

Karen M. (Foley) Geary of Stoneham, formerly of Woburn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2nd at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. She was sixty-six years of age.

Born and raised in Winchester, Karen was an only child to the late Robert and Marjorie (Boyle) Foley. She attended Winchester Public Schools, where she received her diploma in 1969. Following graduation, Karen began her career working for the New England Telephone Company.

Karen was a woman who put her heart and soul into raising her three children, who were the love of her life. Her family and close friends were her entire world, especially her grandchildren, who she adored. She loved socializing with people and making them laugh.

For the past few years, Karen had been working in retail at the Sister Thrift store in Burlington. It was a place very special to her because of all the people she met throughout her time there. She considered both the people she worked with and the customers who came in as family and she loved them all. She was a very close friend of Lois W. and was a strong advocate for women’s health and safety.

Two of Karen’s passions in life were music and theater. Though she had a love for all music, she was a Bruno Mars fanatic! She had unique style and flair, dressing up for special gatherings or holidays, and she loved doing it big on Halloween! She enjoyed taking rides to get her favorite ice cream on the North Shore and loved going to Boston’s North End to eat the amazing Italian food.

Karen will always be remembered for her selfless, funny, and flamboyant personality and will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.

Karen is lovingly survived by her children Colin Quigley, his wife Angela of Medford, Dana Quigley, his wife Jillian of Waltham and Meaghan Geary of Stoneham. Very special "YaYa" to Rowan and Scarlett Quigley. A Memorial Service will be held at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home 263 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, December 8th at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours in the Funeral Home on Friday, December 8th from 4-8 p.m. Please at the family's request in lieu of flowers; remembrances may be made in Karen's honor to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or www.REACHMA.org.
