OBITUARY:

Dianne (Blakeney) Rich passed away at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Thursday, November 30th. The beloved wife of Robert “Bob” Rich, she was sixty-eight years old.

Born in Wakefield, Dianne was the only child and daughter of the late Roland and Mary (Bisso) Blakeney. Raised in the “Hilltop” section of the city, Dianne was educated in the Woburn Public Schools, graduating from Woburn High School with the Class of 1967. Throughout high school Dianne was very active participating in all of the Black and Orange Reviews, plays and shows. Diane was a magnificent dancer and singer and often joined her cousin Larry and his band.

While in high school, Diane had been to a relative’s house party in Wakefield, where she was introduced to Bob Rich. Well, this was the very beginning of a journey that would span over fifty years.

They married in 1970, settled in Melrose for over twenty years and returned to Woburn. While in Melrose, their daughter Shireen was born and what joy she brought to their lives. They all did everything together! School events, sporting or academic, they never missed. Dianne and her daughter attended many plays and musicals, from the Jersey Boys to the acappella groups. Saturday was their day to shop and they would start in the morning, stop and have lunch and then finish up what was left! Dianne, Bob and Shireen were a team.

The family often travelled to Maine for family outings, having a favorite spot at St. Anne’s in Kennybunkport for their picnics right next to the ocean.

Dianne had two “grandpuppies” that she loved! Her snacks, treats, and unconditional love was shared through and through.

Dianne was a truly kind and gentlewoman. A very proud American, Dianne celebrated all that was patriotic and was very proud of all our veterans who have over the years and present day protected our country.

A smile that lit up a room, and a personality that just warmed your heart, Dianne's faith and her family were her world.

Dianne was predeceased by her Mom and Dad. She is lovingly survived by her dear husband Bob, loving daughter Shireen, her husband Kevin Scott of Methuen. Dianne is also survived by many loving cousins, friends and her granddog Dakota. A Funeral Service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, Wednesday, December 6th, at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery.
