Obituary

William J. “Bill” Kelley, a native to Woburn, passed away after an illness at the Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus on Friday, October 27. The son of the late Edward P., Jr. and Catherine E (Fitzmaurice) Kelley, he was sixty-seven years of age.

Born and raised in Woburn, Bill was one of five siblings. He received his elementary education from Saint Charles School in Woburn where he was also an altar boy. He attended High School at Woburn High where he graduated in 1968. Bill was active in sports and had a passion for football as a player for the Pop Warner team. Bill also had a love for fishing and frequently enjoyed many days spent with friends at Horn Pond.

After graduating school, Bill proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves during the Vietnam War. Bill’s pride and devotion as a Marine followed him well beyond his discharge from the reserves as he volunteered at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, assisting fellow veterans throughout the years.

Bill was a family man at heart and loved spending time with everyone. He enjoyed traveling and would go with his siblings and others to Hampton Beach every summer. The holidays were definitely Bill’s favorite times to be with family and friends. In addition, Bill was a very proud uncle who adored all of his nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. He would ask about them constantly and was always interested in how they were doing.

A kind and loving soul, Bill will always be remembered for his generosity and care for all of his family and friends.

Sadly, in addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother Edward P. Kelley, III.

Bill is lovingly survived by his sisters Maryanne “Kelly” Rademacher, her husband Donald of Linden, CA, Claire Theobald, her husband Martin of Woburn, and Kathleen Hurd, her husband Dale of Norton. Very special uncle to many loving nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held in the Woodbrook Cemetery, 100 Salem Street, Woburn on Tuesday, October 31st at 12:30 p.m. Remembrances may be made in Bill's honor to the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730.
