Obituary of Loretta R. Figucia

LORETTA R. FIGUCIA, - in Woburn, 83, lifelong resident of Woburn, October 25th. Loving sister of Sam Figucia of Stoneham and Sally Cannon of Woburn. Dear sister-in-law to Cathy Figucia of Woburn. Beloved aunt of twenty-six loving nieces and nephews. Devoted daughter of the late Frank and Marion (DeSalvo) Figucia. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Saturday, October 28th at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call at the Funeral Home, Friday, October 27th, 4 - 8 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Loretta's honor to a charity of one's choice.

Obituary

Loretta R. Figucia, a native of Woburn, passed away after a long illness at Brightview Country Club Heights on Wednesday, October 25th with her loving family by her side.

Born and raised in Woburn, Loretta was one of eleven siblings, born to the late Frank and Marion (DeSalvo) Figucia. She graduated from Woburn High school with the Class of 1952. An active member of her graduating class’s Reunion Committee, Loretta was involved for fifty years.

After finishing high school, Loretta took a position at the Bank of Boston for a while then worked for the R.M.V as a secretary to the Register until her retirement.

Loretta’s life revolved around her family and her faith. As a member of the Immaculate Conception of Winchester, she belonged to the Ladies Society and was a lector as well as a member of the church choir. In addition, Loretta had a love for traveling and enjoyed going to Italy, England and many other destinations in the U.S.

Loretta had an open door policy at her home for family and friends, including all of her nieces and nephews. She was available at anytime to help any of her family and would always end the visits with wonderful refreshments. She was a great hostess and enjoyed many holidays with the family.

Loretta will always be remembered for being a great lady who embraced her illness with dignity and always had a song in her heart. She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and friends.

Sadly, in addition to her parents, Loretta was pre-deceased by her siblings John, James, Joseph, Andy and Frank Figucia, Jr., Agnes Kiklis, Vera Deangelo and Lu Iritano.
