FRANCIS M. CARROLL - of Billerica, formerly of Woburn,72, October 17th Passed away peacefully at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, with his loving family by his side. Beloved husband of 51 years to Irene M. (Johnson) Carroll. Loving father to Kerri Twomey and husband Jason, Debbie DeVito and husband Andrew, all of Pepperell, MA and Michael Carroll of Orlando, FL. Cherished grandfather to Ryan, Brendan and Nick Twomey and Christopher, Alexis and Matt DeVito. Dear brother of Maryellen J. Maher and her husband Denis, Ellen Mary Szetela and her husband Michael , all of Woburn, as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Timothy and Catherine (Gaffney) Carroll and his brother, Timothy J. Carroll Jr. Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, Oct. 21st, at 9:15 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10. OBITUARY

Francis M. Carroll, 72, of Billerica, formerly of Woburn, died peacefully, Tuesday, October 17th at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Irene M. (Johnson) Carroll, with whom he would have celebrated 51 years of marriage on November 5th.

Born in Winchester, Francis was the son of the late Timothy and Catherine (Gaffney) Carroll. He was raised and educated in Woburn and a graduate of Woburn High School. When he met and married Irene, they made their home in Billerica where they have resided for the last 50 years. In the late 1950’s and early 60’s, Fran was a member of the Immaculate Conception Drum and Bugle Corps. where he met and made many lasting friends. He also served proudly as part of the US Marines Reserves for many years.

For many years, Franny worked as a Logistics Operator for various places including, Canada Dry, Agar Supply , Yankee Food Distributors and M & M Marketing. Most recently he worked for Commonwealth Motors.

Mr. Carroll was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors. He was a former member of the Winchester Knights of Columbus and a proud New England Sports Fan, his favorite team being the Bruins. Franny’s greatest accomplishment however, was his family whom he loved more than anything. He was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather and was his grandchildren’s biggest fans. He would often be found rooting them on during their various sporting events and loved every moment of it.

Along with his wife Irene, Franny is survived and will be deeply missed by his three children, Kerri Twomey and husband Jason, Debbie DeVito and husband Andrew, all of Pepperell, MA and Michael Carroll of Orlando, FL; his six cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Brendan and Nick Twomey and Christopher, Alexis and Matt DeVito; two sisters, Maryellen J. Maher and her husband Denis, Ellen Mary Szetela and her husband Michael, all of Woburn; his nieces and nephews, Stacy Maher and companion Emilio Carrasquillo, Denis Maher and wife Lindsay and Michael Szetela, all of Woburn ; as well as his great- nieces, Avery and Hailey, great-nephew, “little” Denis, and his beloved dogs and best friends, Ed and Ernie.

Franny was predeceased by his brother, Timothy J. Carroll Jr.

Franny's Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, Oct. 21st, at 9:15 a.m. with his funeral Mass to follow in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to his calling hours on Friday, Oct. 20th from 3-7 p.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
