Obituary of Josephine V. (Mannino) Shaw

JOSEPHINE V. (MANNINO) SHAW - of Woburn, September 30th at eighty years of age. Cherished sister of Margaret Anderson, her husband William of Medford, and the late Rose Delaney, her late husband Seymour. Loving aunt to William Anderson, JR., his wife Cindy of Everett, and the late Richard Delaney of Natick. Very special God mother to Nicole M. Anderson of Everett. Dear great-aunt to Avery Rose Bussell of Everett. Beloved cousin to Kristin Black, her husband Sean, Louise Delaney all of Natick and Sean Delaney, his wife Kristin of Germany. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Tuesday, October 10th at 9:00 a.m, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara’s Church, Cambridge Road, Woburn at 10. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. OBITUARY

Josephine V. (Mannino) Shaw, 80, a longtime resident of Woburn, died peacefully, Sunday, September 30th at DE Rham Hospice Home in Cambridge. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Shaw, whom passed away in 2016.

Born in Boston, Josephine was the daughter of the late Guisseppi and Rose (Mirabile) Mannino. She was raised and educated in the South End of Boston and was a part of the last graduating class of South End Girls High School in 1954.

For many years Josephine worked as a secretary for various insurance companies, most notably, John Hancock in Boston.

Josephine met her beloved husband Bob at a local dance in Boston. After falling in love and marrying, they moved to Medford. In 1963, they settled into Woburn where they have made there home since 1969. During their 52 years of marriage, they traveled throughout New England and once a year, every year, traveled to a new destination.

In her spare time, Josephine enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She was handy and enjoyed wallpapering, painting and generally caring for her home. She lived in a wonderful and friendly neighborhood where her neighbors were more like family. They enjoyed many neighborhood gathering at each others homes and always had lots of fun.

Josephine and Bob were extremely close to their family and lived for the many gatherings they enjoyed together, specifically during the Holidays. Christmas day was always held in the Shaw home, always with an abundance of food, love and laughs. Josephine was a loving and caring woman who loved life. Her close family and friends meant the world to her.

Josephine is survived and will be deeply missed by her nephew, William Anderson, JR., his wife Cindy of Everett; her god-daughter, Nicole M. Anderson of Everett; her great-niece, Avery Rose Bussell of Everett.; and her cousins, Kristin Black, her husband Sean, Louise Delaney all of Natick and Sean Delaney, his wife Kristin of Germany.

She was predeceased by her nephew, the late Richard Delaney of Natick.
