Obituary of William Randall 'Rand' Woodrick

William Randall "Rand" Woodrick of Wakefield, passed away suddenly at his home, Friday September 29th, at fifty three years of age. Rand was the beloved partner of Mark A. Barry of Wakefield.

Born in Pittsburgh he was the loving son of Robert C. Woodrick of NY and the late Janet L. (Mollison) Carnahan. He was one of three siblings including his brother Robert Woodrick and sister Lauren Kelley both of PA. Rand was also an uncle to many loving nieces and nephews.

Rand grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from high school there. He received his BS in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh. His career was always heavily dominated by the sciences. After working at several laboratories he settled at Osram Sylvania in Beverly, as the Principal Scientist.

Rand had many passions including hiking, nature, music and art. He would often hike in the woods of the Breakheart Reservation. He found solace in the northern germanic religious traditions and celebrated with the Jaršarmen Kindred. He sought peace and self-knowledge as a practitioner of Kyudo Japanese archery.

At this time all services are private. A Celebration of Rand's life will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, Saturday, October 21st from 1:30-4:30. Remembrances may be made in Rands memory, to the AIDS Action Committee, please visit info.aac.org/donate.
