OBITUARY:

Donna A. (Mendes) Rae, passed away peacefully at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, Wednesday, May 23rd, surrounded by her loving family. The beloved wife of Daniel "Dan" Rae, she was fifty seven years of age.

Born in Somerville, she was the loving daughter of Francis “Frank” Mendes of Woburn and the late Joan (Burge) Mendes.

Donna's family moved to Woburn when she was young and they nestled right in, having made Woburn their home. Donna attended Woburn schools and was a graduate of Woburn High School along with the class of 1977. Following High School, she continued on with her education Endicott College upon completion she went on to the University of Massachusetts, where she received her Bachelor's Degree.

In the early nineties, Donna’s cousin introduced her to a handsome young man by the name of Dan. After their first date at Frank’s Steakhouse in Cambridge, it was obvious; they were made for each other! They wed on a beautiful sunny day in early September of 1993. Two years later they welcomed their first born son into the world, Daniel Jr, two years after that they welcomed their youngest son Patrick. This completed their family.

Donna truly loved being a mother! There wasn't anything in the world she wouldn't do for her boys! Always making sure they were involved in academic and sporting events, Donna attended all of their activities, cheering them on from the sidelines, bleachers and auditoriums!

On Sunday, their son graduated from Suffolk University. With thanks to modern technology, friends and family Donna was able to watch her son graduate on live stream television, to the Sawtelle Home.

Donna enjoyed traveling, especially with “all her boys. “One of the more memorable trips was a road trip the historic areas of Virginia, as well as Disney World and all their vacations on “the Cape”.

Donna will always be remembered as a fun loving, charismatic, charming person; loving mother, superb cook, and an unconditionally loving and generous mother and person.

Sadly Donna was predeceased by her Mom Joan and her brother John Mendes.
