OBITUARY:

Margaret L. (Porter) Wickwire, of Woburn, passed away peacefully at her home Friday morning, May 12th surrounded by her loved ones. The daughter of the late Ralph A. and Elizabeth (Deane) Porter, she was seventy-three years old.

Born, raised and educated in Woburn, Margaret would graduate from Woburn High School alongside the Class of 1961. Following graduation she entered the workforce, beginning her career with Hancock Insurance and then with the National Bank. Her experience would bring her to Bridgeport Brass before she would ultimately find her way to C.R. Bard. It was at C.R. Bard where she would dedicate over 20 years as an executive assistant before retiring ten years ago.

A great woman was not without a great man by her side. It’s a love story that would begin in the seventh grade and would encompass six decades. Margaret was just a teenager when she would meet her future husband, Walter “Wick” Wickwire. Dating all through high school, these sweethearts would marry in 1963. This was the prelude to what would be a lifetime of love and adventure.

Margaret and Wick were no strangers to fun and excitement. Whether it be on the deck of their boat, on the back of a snowmobile or behind the handle bars of a motorcycle, you could find this pair enjoying all four seasons. You could often catch them up in Laconia for Bike Week or cruising around with their motorcycle group. Yearly vacations would bring them all over. Margaret and Wick especially enjoyed their trips to the beaches of Bermuda where it wasn’t unusual for Margaret to be soaking up the sun with a book in her hand. With over fifty years of marriage for these best friends, the memories are endless.

Margaret will be remembered for her cheerful spirit, sense of humor and the commitment and dedication she had to her family and friends. She was always there for whoever needed her. She leaves behind a multitude of people who will miss her dearly.

Sadly, Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Ralph A. and Elizabeth (Deane) Porter, and her siblings, Ralph A. Porter , Jr. and Norma “Nancy” Evans. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Walter H. "Wick" Wickwire of Woburn and her cherished cat Ralphie. Margaret is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. A Funeral will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Wednesday, May 17th at 10 a.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
