OBITUARY:

Marie (Bruno) Galvin passed away on Wednesday evening April 26th surrounded by her family. The beloved wife of the late John “Honey” Galvin and devoted mother of Susan Sullivan, Jay Galvin, Paula Flammia and Nancy Rollinson. Marie recently celebrated her eighty second birthday.

Marie was raised in Belmont and was the daughter of the late Peter and Jenny (Tortola) Bruno. Marie was the eldest of six children and graduated from Belmont High in 1953. After High School, Marie worked at the Boston Woven Hose Company in Cambridge. While there, she met the love of her life, John. They lived in Belmont for two years before moving to Woburn to raise their family. Marie and John were a very social couple who loved spending time with family and friends. Together they hosted yearly Fourth of July parties, participated in Candlepin Bowling leagues and loved dressing up for Halloween parties. They also took the kids on camping trips to the White Mountains, Cape Cod and Sturbridge Village. After the lost of her husband, Marie rejoined the workforce at the Winchester Savings Bank. She spent the next 25+ years at the bank where she held numerous positions, planned many of the banks' social events and made many lifelong friends. In retirement, Marie's top priority was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Together time at Marshfield's Rexhame beach and attending as many of her grandchildren's sporting events were her favorite activities. Marie also spent countless hours volunteering at the Woburn Senior Center where she enjoyed scrap booking and making more new friends. Marie was a very active member of the Woburn Lions and participated in many different community events.

Marie will always be remembered as strong and caring woman who was always there to help others in any way she could. Her devotion to family and friends was unquestionable, unwavering and lifelong.

Marie sadly lost her husband John after twenty two years of marriage. She is lovingly survived by her children Susan M. Sullivan and her husband Jeff of Billerica, John R. "Jay" Galvin Jr. and his wife Lori Blume, Paula J. Flammia and her husband Christopher all of Chelmsford, and Nancy A. Rollinson and her husband Matt of Marshfield. Dear sister of Robert Bruno of Newton, Adele Floyd of Canton, Richard Bruno of Goffstown NH, Joanne DiBona of Waltham and David Bruno of Burlington.
